The Fynbos apothecary

The surrounding fynbos biome — one of the most botanically diverse ecosystems on earth — inspires another layer of The Storytellers’ offering: a hand-crafted apothecary range created from organically cultivated medicinal plants.
Using natural oils, raw beeswax and their own distilled tinctures, the family produces balms, hydrosols, soaps, shampoo bars, deodorants, perfumes, bath salts and herbal preserves. The philosophy behind the range is rooted in respect for plant intelligence and the slower, more integrated wisdom of botanical healing.
The apothecary also works with a community collective called the Fynbos Mengsels. The aim of this partnership is to revitalise and celebrate indigenous knowledge of the medicinal and edible plants of this region.
Our philosophy: There is profound wisdom to the way plants heal. Sometimes it is slower than we are used to with medications that mask and manage symptoms. There are compounds in nature (often copied by modern medicine) that reduce inflammation, manage pain, fight infections and pathogens, calm the nerves and clear up wastes. Fascinated by all these capabilities and the complex intelligence behind them, we have created a range of natural remedies for all manner of physical and emotional imbalance. We use quality natural oils, raw beeswax and alcoholic distillations we make ourselves. Our range includes healing balms and oils, hydrosols, soaps, shampoo bars, deodorant balms, perfume, tinctures, facecreams, bathsalts, herbal salts and fynbos preserves.
